Introducing Boho Skin
Boho Skin
This blog has been a thought in my head for such a long time, years actually. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to actually put it out there. I mean I had a blog years ago and kept it up for a long time and loved writing. In all honesty so much has happened to me personally over the past decade I think I have felt a bit paralyzed in so many ways, but I think it’s time for a fresh start. I think many of us are ready for a fresh start; one full of wellness and vitality that has us glowing from the inside out.
So, this little corner of the internet will hopefully be a place for you to come to find information on natural skincare and what that actually looks like, as well as musings on life and wellness. I am a firm believer that what is happening on the inside of us, will eventually start showing up on the outside, whether it be our skin or our attitudes, or both. But, before we get into any of that, a little bit of my story.
I recently turned 44 and have been married for 25 years, which means, yes, I got married at 19 to a man 6 1/2 years older. We have 3 kids; a 22 year old daughter, 20 year old son, and 15 year old daughter who are the loves of my life.
Us this pasty Christmas with my mother in law.
The one on top with the goofy face is Luther, and the one down below is Calvin. They are pretending to not have been fed, but do not worry, they were properly fed that morning.
We have a very busy life right outside of DC in Bethesda, MD but we do try and have some fun. Like crashing frat parties at UF…
Don’t worry, my daughter, the senior student there was with us, and that’s my brother and his very fun girlfriend. Or attending as many concerts as we can manage…So now ya know. 😉 My husband and brother and nephew were lucky enough to be able to visit my son at Auburn and go to the game vs Kentucky!! And of course, as tradition stands, paper Toomers Corner…
Ok…enough of the fun!
I was lucky enough to be able to stay home to raise them and decided when my oldest was a senior in high school to go back to school, this time to beauty school. I got my esti license and began working out of our home doing organic facials and airbrush tans. Between still having kids at home, running them all over, having clients in and out (my husband also works from home which makes our home a wee bit exciting), lets just say things were quite busy, but a good busy.
Flash forward to the dreaded pandemic and, let’s just say, I like so many other small business owners suffered. Everything was forced to close and when things started to open, people were not flooding back through the doors. They are coming, slowly coming, but let’s just say, my faith is really being tested as to whether this is where I should be.
Over the years, I have tried and used a small number of skincare lines, including dabbling in formulating some of my own creations. Recently, I have circled back to a line I knew of and am falling in love. You will get to know more about it over the next blog posts. Sans Skincare has been around for a minute now and is a local, small batch skincare company based right here in the suburbs of DC. Throughout my journey, I have come to realize that my skin does not react well to most preservatives that are in skincare formulations. More of this to come as well. There are many natural ingredients that you can use to prolong the life of formulations like rosemary extract and sage extract and vitamin E, but most skincare, even organic skincare, use things like benzoates to preserve and prolong shelf life. These can disturb the very delicate micro biome of our skin and cause a host of skin issues.
I am so excited to work with Sans Skincare and even more excited to introduce these amazing products with you my friends, family, and clients. I will continue to formulate three of my own creations that are very different from anything in the Sans line. The Blue Spa Collection featuring the Blue Tansy Foam, Blue Butterfly Dust, and of course, The Blue Stuff.
Some of my favorite Sans Skincare products. I now carry them in the spa, so if you are interested let me know. They really are fantastic.
